In short

Savannah is an 83.5-metre motor yacht that Feadship built in Aalsmeer, the Netherlands, and delivered in 2015, with naval architecture by Feadship De Voogt and exterior styling and interiors by the Paris studio CG Design (Feadship, Boat International). Lloyd's Register, which classed her, describes her as the first superyacht able to choose between diesel, diesel-electric and fully electric propulsion, with fuel savings of up to 30% claimed at launch (Lloyd's Register, March 2015). The system combines one Wärtsilä diesel engine, three generators and a lithium-ion battery bank of about one megawatt (SuperyachtNews, January 2015). She is also the first yacht to run an Azipull thruster in the slipstream of a variable-pitch propeller, and the first superyacht painted entirely in metallic paint (Boat International). She was named Motor Yacht of the Year at the World Superyacht Awards and was sold in May 2025, last asking €140 million (Boat International, May 2025).

Questions

Why is the yacht Savannah famous?
She was the first superyacht able to choose between diesel, diesel-electric and fully electric propulsion (Lloyd's Register, 2015), and Feadship calls her the world's first hybrid superyacht (Feadship). She is also known for her semi-submerged Nemo lounge and for being the first superyacht painted entirely in metallic paint (Boat International).
How does Savannah's hybrid propulsion work?
A single Wärtsilä diesel engine turns one large variable-pitch propeller on the centreline, while an electric Azipull thruster turns in its slipstream; three generators and about one megawatt of lithium-ion batteries supply electric power (Lloyd's Register, SuperyachtNews, 2015). The system has five modes, from battery-only cruising at low speed to a boost mode, and Feadship claimed fuel savings of up to 30% (Lloyd's Register).
What yacht is used in The Woman in Cabin 10?
Savannah. The yacht in the Netflix film, called the Aurora Borealis in the story, is the 83.5-metre Feadship; filming took place mainly while she was docked at Portland Harbour in Dorset, England, in September 2024, with some interiors built at Shepperton Studios (Boat International, October 2025).
How big is Savannah?
She is 83.50 metres (273 ft 11 in) long with a beam of 12.20 metres and a draught of 3.85 metres (Feadship). Boat International gives a gross tonnage of 2,250 and accommodation for 12 guests in six cabins (Boat International).
How much did Savannah sell for?
The sale price was not published. She was sold in May 2025 through Edmiston, last asking €140 million, after €29 million was cut from her asking price in June 2024; she had been on the market since September 2023 (Boat International, May 2025). Her original build cost has not been published.
Can you charter Savannah?
She was offered for charter through Edmiston from €1,200,000 a week in January 2024 (Boat International). Whether she is available since her sale in May 2025 has not been published.
Where is Savannah now?
Her live position is shown on public AIS trackers: MarineTraffic and VesselFinder. Search by IMO 1012517 or MMSI 538071192; she sails under the flag of the Marshall Islands (VesselFinder).
