In short
Canova is a 43.3-metre carbon sloop that Baltic Yachts launched in Finland in May 2019, and the first superyacht fitted with a Dynamic Stability System (DSS) foil (Baltic Yachts, SuperyachtNews). The 9-metre carbon foil runs athwartships through a cassette beneath the owner's berth and slides about 6.5 metres out to leeward, where its lift reduces heel by up to 34% and pitching by up to 40%; the system was developed by Hugh Welbourn and Gordon Kay of Infiniti Yachts and had until then been used on smaller yachts (Baltic Yachts, Baltic Yachts, Boat International). An experienced yachtsman and repeat Baltic client commissioned her for long-distance cruising with a small crew, and her diesel-electric drive charges the batteries from the propeller under sail; according to the builder, this lets her cross an ocean with all systems running and no internal combustion engine in use (SuperyachtNews, Baltic Yachts). She was named Sailing Yacht of the Year at the World Superyacht Awards 2020, and she has been for sale with Edmiston since July 2025 (Baltic Yachts, Boat International).
